I don't think they were trying to be replicas of Led Zep, however, with Jimmy Page at the helm, the arrangements were always going to be extremely similar to the originals. The Black Crowes is a tight band here and provides greater depth to these collection of songs with the additional guitar in these arrangements than some of the originals.Jimmy Page is perhaps playing some of the best solos since the Led Zep days. I am an unashamed die heard Led Zeppelin fan. Chris has pulled off the singing of the songs with aplomb and highlights just how good a singer he is. The highlights on this album are Ten Years Gone, Heartbreaker, Out On The Tiles, In My Time Of Dying and a version of an old Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) song "Oh Well".This album is a must have for both Led Zep and Black Crowe fans. Robert Plant is supposed to be irreplaceable. So I was pleasantly surprised and rapt to hear Chris Robinson singing Led Zep songs.
LOOKING FOR THE ENHANCED VERSION WHICH INCLUDES 20 TRACKS ON CD2,,,WAS RETURNED BECAUSE ITEM WAS NOT AS ADVERTISEDAS THE ENHANCED VERSION IN THE DESCRIPTION WAS NOT THE ITEM ADVERTISED.
If you want vintage Black Crowes with Led Zepplin mixed in this is just great.
This double cd is highly recommended. Chris Robinson never sounded better, teaming up with Jimmy Page and brother Rich with new versions of classic Led Zeppelin classics. The band also rips out other blues and rock masterpieces.
Have searched for this album in all the stores including some of the "rare find stores" and finally found on Amazon.
